Be Aware
Mobile phones are part of our lives now and consequently, there has been an increase in accidents related to mobile phone usage whilst driving. From 1st March 2017, the penalties are doubling to 6 points on your license and £200 in fines. Sadly though, it appears that quite a high proportion of drivers are not even aware of these changes and the implications. For example, an additional 6 points could actually mean you lose your license. So why not put your phone into 'Do Not Disturb' or airplane mode whilst driving? You can always pull over for a break to check calls. Far better to drive safely whilst using a mobile phone than risk an accident or penalties.
LicenceCheck covered this is detail last month, prior to the changes coming into play and it is worth reading the full article.
