A new statement has been issued by the Advocate General of the European Court of Justice regarding the 45-hour weekend break taken by EU drivers. The break cannot be counted as a 'rest' period for tachograph and EU drivers' hours regulations if it has be be taken in the vehicle. A 45-hour 'rest' period should be in a hotel/motel room with sanitary facilities and access to hot meals.
