BREXIT and driving in the EU

With BREXIT getting ever closer, the Government is still trying to reach an agreement with the EU regarding lorry permits.  Ideally they are wanting to maintain the current liberal access that commercial hauliers have.  However, there is still a chance that there will be no deal and come 29th March next year we could be looking at hauliers no longer being able to automatically drive in the EU.

It is worth considering a plan B in case this does happen, so it is worth apply for an ECMT permit to ensure continuity of working in the EU.  Applications will be open from the 26th November 2018 and you will need to be registered on the Vehicle Operator Licensing system in order to apply.

The government have now published guidance on how ECMT permits will be allocated to drive
